Neuberger Museum of Art:

  • Meet us at the Neuberger, located on the sprawling SUNY Purchase campus, where we will meet Uruguayan artist Ignacio Iturria, with whom we will explore four decades of Iturria’s practice in this enlightening retrospective of one of South America’s most accomplished painters.  Along with the artist, curator Patrice Giasson will guide us through the playful universe of the Iturria’s whimsical characters and surreal environments, which invite us to reflect upon our own world with amusement and hope — and offer us a accessible perspective on figuration as a meaningful tool for our times.
  • We will then take advantage of the Neuberger’s exhibition of abstractions by Romare Bearden, a major force of American 20th-century art best known for his figurative collages.  This substantive and scholarly examination of Bearden’s non-figurative work provides an opportunity to contemplate the varied creative processes and experimentations that influenced and informed his dominant oeuvre.
  • Optional lunch, price not included
