First Up:  Welcome to the many worlds of American artist Shimon Attie, whose photography and site-specific public projects employ and activate communal memory and identity, exploring transformation from trauma to regeneration.  Whether projecting photographic images onto architecture to "repopulate" lost communities or creating multi-channel video encounters between Israeli's and Palestinians, Attie both honors and provokes reimagination of historical human dissonances.  The recipient of many prized awards and residencies, Shimon's work has been presented at The Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; The Miami Art Museum, and The National Gallery of Art, among many others. 

Next Stop:  The Brant Foundation, where we will view Third Dimension: Works from the Brant Foundation, only the second exhibition at their New York space, formerly the longtime studio of iconic artist and sculpture Walter De Maria. The exhibition's focus on sculpture and installation pays homage to its East Village home and De Maria's legacy, as well as featuring over twenty artists integral to the Brant Collection. The artists that are showcased were amassed in depth over the last fifty years by entrepreneur, manufacturing executive, philanthropist and collector Peter Brant.  Sabrina Marsalisi, the Director of Education, will accompany our group.
