Lower East Side Conversion: History & Innovation

Lower East Side Conversion: History & Innovation

$120.00

Join us downtown as we travel through time to explore the Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation. From tenement, to synagogue, to Resnick’s studio, the newly renovated building preserves many physical traces of its multi-layered history. On view for our visit will be work by Passlof, Resnick’s wife and an American abstract expressionist painter in her own standing. Geoff Dorfman, a contemporary abstract painter and biographer of Resnick and the New York School, will explain Resnick and Passlof's influence on artists today.

We will round the corner to the James Cohan Gallery to consider issues of influence and legacy through the lens of the artist/gallery relationship. Founders Jane & Jim Cohan will walk us through their celebratory 20th Anniversary show and discuss the role of the gallery as influencer, as we view work by their wildly impressive roster of artists, including Michelle Grabner and Federico Herrero.
